Evangelize! Educate! Empower!
Our Mission Statement
St. Elizabeth School is an
historically Black Catholic elementary school that evangelizes,
educates and empowers children and families to grow and to develop
as people committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our School
Philosophy
St. Elizabeth is holy ground
which nourishes faith, teaches children a love of learning and of
academic excellence, supports the richness of all cultures, and
reverence for the sacredness of all life. It is a beacon of
hope for all to discover the presence of God's grace within
ourselves, in this parish and school, in this local community, and
in this, our world.
|
A
reputation for excellence, A spiritual experience for
life, An investment in a child's
future. |
 |
Become a part of our tradition
and history.
Become a part of our
future.
St. Elizabeth School has over 100 years
of academic excellence and religious education. Our school was
envisioned by Rev. Augustus Tolton, the first Black Catholic
Priest in Chicago in the 1890's. It was founded by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the
Blessed Sacrament at the request of Miss Elsie Hodges
(later Mrs. Sheperd) as St.
Monica School in 1912. Since that time the Society of the
Divine Word Missionaries have ministered to the school and the
church and have been joined by the Daughters of Divine
Love.
Our
children are the best!

Registration for
